Celebrate and Honor the Mom's of the World!

Give your Mom a wild Mother's day with celebrations at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. 
Mom's are free!

Enjoy a bonfire, marshmallows and hot cocoa from 9:30am - 6pm Sunday may 14th. 
Feel free to bring your own treats to roast on the fire too!

4th Annual Most Egg-cellent & Egg-stravagant Easter Scavenger Hunt!

Join the search Monday April 17th from 10:30am - 5:00pm for a most Egg-cellent and Egg-stravagant Easter scavenger hunt. 
Clues will be hidden throughout the Preserve. Find them to piece together the Easter riddle and get your sweet treat prize. 

  • All ages welcome. 
  • Regular admission rates apply. Members free. 
  • Take part anytime during open hours. 
  • Guided bus tours will not be suitable to take part in the activity but will be offered as per scheduled Noon and 2pm tours.

Sunday October 30th 10:30am to 4:00pm
Trick or Treat - Halloween is celebrated by the animals too!

Come dressed in your best and join some Halloween fun. 

Special animal feedings with the lynx and red fox starting at 1pm. Red Fox feeding at 2pm. 

All day "I Spy" activity - find all the hidden Halloween items around the back loop for extra treats. 

Bonfire and marshmallow roasting from Noon - 3:30pm at the carnivore corner on the back loop. 

Regular bus tours at Noon and 2pm with time allotted to stop at the bonfire. Please note general shuttles will NOT be provided. Please be prepared to walk allowing about 45 minutes to get to the Lynx habitat from the front entrance. 

Regular admission applies. Valid up-to-date members free.
Membership available to purchase.

RUN WILD! Annual Fun Run

Our 5th annual fun-run fundraiser is on Monday August 15th. This year money generated from the event will go towards the care of injured and orphaned wildlife through our Wildlife Rehabilitation and Research Centre. 

Run Wild is a 5 km run or walk around our scenic loop, bring your family, bring your friends or come and make some new ones as you help to raise money to continue the care of Yukon's wildlife. 

Race Day Registration from 9:30am - 10:15am

Race starts at 10:30am

Seniors $12; adults $15; Youth $10; Children $7; Children under 5 are free. Donations are always welcomed. 

Pre-registration is open now. Registration forms and pledge sheets can be picked up at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve Reception Cabin, or downloaded via the links below We encourage you to assist us with fundraising by picking up a pledge sheet, and have your friends and family support you in this year’s RUN WILD event. The top fundraiser will be awarded a truly heartwarming and once-in-a-lifetime prize.

Join us! June 11th 9:30 - 6:00pm. Please note, the 3:30pm Red Fox Feeding will be replaced by the release of a majestic rehabilitated animal. The release will take place near the entrance of the YWP.

Yukon'er Day & AGM

Saturday June 13th 9:30am - 6:00pm join the fun with free entry, special bus tours, carnivore feedings, rehabilitation centre access, and a yummy Yukon style BBQ. 

Stick around after for the Yukon Wildlife Preserve AGM to be held at the YWP Learning Centre from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Learn more about the Preserve, meet board members and staff, and even get involved. Remember, members have voting right and we want to hear from you!

"Definitely a Fox" Unveiling Event

Thank you again to all who joined us this day and supported throughout. Come visit this little guy in the new habitat anytime!

The posts have been set in the ground, wire has been stretched and fitted, standoff barrier is set, viewing windows in place, and interpretive panels are mounted, it's finally time to introduce the little red fox to his new home! Won't you join us in this very exciting unveiling event.When: April 11th at Noon 

Where: The new Red Fox habitat across from the Arctic fox on the back loop. 

What: A ribbon cutting ceremony along with introducing the once mistaken red fox into the red fox habitat across from the arctic fox habitat. A bonfire will be close by with treats and hot cocoa to recognize the incredible contributions and community support that made this new habitat possible. 

Arrive early! Shuttles will be provided to the habitat or allow 45 minutes if you wish to walk to the back loop. We are very happy to announce some guests speakers will join us for the unveiling to say a few words. Return shuttles will be provided up until 1:30pm.

Cost: Entry by donation until 12:00pm. 

Easter EGG-stravaganza Scavenger Hunt

"Wildlife Rocks” (how geology makes Yukon Wildlife Preserve home)

Yukon Geological Survey presents...This combination bus and hiking tour will highlight the geologic features of the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. Join us to explore how these features were formed and why they provide essential habitat for the wildlife at the Preserve.

Annual Open House and AGM

Can you believe it? The Yukon Wildlife Preserve turns 10 this spring! We're celebrating on Saturday June 14th, 2014 and you're invited.

June 14th is our Annual Open House, with free entry and events from 9:30am to 6:00pm, so bring your friends! We'll have carnivore feeding times, tours of the rehabilitation centre and even birthday cake!

We're closing out the day with our AGM from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. We'll start shuttling people up to the field house at 5:45. This is a great opportunity to find out more about how the Preserve operates, meet the board and staff, and even get involved yourself. Members have voting rights and we look forward to your input and participation.

The Yukon Wildlife Preserve Operation Society cordially invites you to the 2013 AGM to be held at the Yukon WIldlife Preserve. We will be looking over the past year and discussing exciting new initatives for the New Year. This is an excellent chance to meet Board members and Preserve Staff. We are also looking for nominations for new board memebers. If you have ever wanted to be involved more closely with the preserve, this is your chance.

Run Wild! Family fun run/walk 

Monday, August 19th 2013 

Registration from 9:30am to 10:15am. 

Race starts at 10:30am.

Bring your family, bring your friends or come and make some new ones as you run or walk around our scenic 5 km loop. Run Wild is a fundraiser for wildlife research, rehabilitation and education. There will be door prizes and plenty of fun to be had.

Seniors $12; Adults $15; Youth $10; Children $7;  Children under 5 are free. Donations are always welcome.

    • Kid/Family Specific Tours available (times TBA)
  • Guided Walking tours at: 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm & 4:30pm

  • Rehabilitation Centre Tours at: 11am, 1pm & 3pm

Ground Squirrel School

Join Environment Yukon biologists and Yukon Palaeontologist Grant Zazula for a fascinating look at these subterranean dwellers. We'll observe the squirrels through scopes and learn about recent Yukon research on the species!
