Thanks for your interest in volunteering with Yukon Wildlife Preserve! We are currently updating our volunteer program, with the intention of bringing new volunteers onto the team starting after May 12, 2025.
In the meantime, you can submit a general expression of interest in volunteering through our volunteer database. Everyone in the database will receive an email when recruitment opens in Spring 2025.
Current Status:
- Finalizing volunteer roles in Education and Animal Care,
- Updating volunteer training plans,
- Collecting applications of interest.

Regular Volunteer Requirements
Regularly schedule volunteers learn and contribute with teams all throughout the Preserve. Roles include assisting with Animal Care and Education programs, sharing stories with visitors, and more. All regular volunteers at the Preserve need:
- Health insurance valid in Yukon (i.e.: territorial health coverage, private insurance, etc.);
- An interest in Yukon’s wildlife and wild places;
- The ability to meet the minimum commitment for their volunteer role, usually around 3-4 shifts a month for a period of 3-6 months.
Some roles may have additional requirements which will be explained in the volunteer position descriptions.
Project Volunteer Requirements
Project-based volunteers assist with one-time events such as helping with special events, assembling fences, removing invasive species, and other work parties. Project-based volunteers need:
- Health insurance valid in Yukon (i.e.: territorial health coverage, private insurance, etc.);
- The ability to get to/from the Preserve for a specific event;
- Time to volunteer for an entire event shift, usually between 2 and 5 hours, depending on the event.
Some roles may have additional requirements which will be explained in the event descriptions.
